When you discover your work has been copied it is hard to feel flattered. I recently discovered some work that was remarkably similar to my own, and felt a bit cheated. I have taken it upon myself to not feel too terrible about it, as the person is a student and it appears to be an experiment in shape and colour. When I was studying, and even now, if I am inspired by someone’s work I will always try to learn from it and make an idea my own. It is called development, and it can be hard to do if all you will do is out-rightly copy peoples work. If you do ever feel it is important as part of you personal development to copy in some way, then please, please, please reference the artist/designer in some way! It makes the world of design a much nicer place, where we can all co-exist in mutual respect!
My newest design, which I have been working on late into the night. I realised a few days ago that Valentines day is just a short while away, and what a lucrative date in the calender it is. My feather heart is one of two possible designs I shall have printed as cards for the special day. I also want to work with this design, creating a picture involving a girl, and adding a narrative to it.
I hope you prefer the updated version of this design as much as I do? One of my new years resolutions is to be braver and add more texture to my work. This was a lovely paper texture I pasted in, adjusting the layers to get this new effect.
You can buy it as a print and more at my Society 6 shop. Just click HERE.
