I wanted to do a post about some of the recent picture books I have brought. The picture book industry is so exciting right now, and I am enjoying adding to my collection  with some great author/illustrators. Things that strike me most often are the simplicity of the pages, and the end paper designs are often as exciting as the illustrations in the books too (note Jon Klassens I Want My Hat Back).  I hope to add Owen Davy’s Foxly’s Feast and Knight Night to the collection soon. Here are the covers and a few of my favourite spreads from some of them. Enjoy!

Actually, It’s Lion and Tiger and Bear and it’s my new Limited Edition 8×16 Print. Inspiration has been a bit thin on the ground and I am thankful I am doing Children’s book illustration as a course right now, as it has given me the courage to explore character illustration more. My new print is available to buy for just £15 at my Etsy shop. I hope I can continue to explore more characters which I can bring to you soon.

Earlier this year I decided to submit my work for the new issue of Ballad Of Magazine. The theme was Pet My Ballad, and I decided to draw these totem like dogs. It’s been a real struggle to keep it all secret, as we haven’t been allowed to show the work until we knew either way if we successful or not. I am happy to say, these three have made it into the magazine! I pre-ordered my copy of the Ballad Of…Lola-Bacon, and you can buy yours HERE too. I am now eagerly awaiting the launch party of the magazine!

Currently working on a few ideas involving Brown Bears. I rarely sketch and draw in pencil so it’s been nice to completely work on building up the layers, tone and texture. I shall be drawing at least one more bear then will I will begin playing around with a layout and possibly story for them.
Hope you like 😀

My latest illustrative creations include a ‘Wild Horses’ and ‘Winter Wolves’.  The horses were inspired heavily by Ancient Greek depictions of horses, particularly from Etruscan Bronzes.
You can buy the horses as quality Giclee prints,, T Shirts and more in my Society 5 shop HERE.
Apart from working on horses I have been thinking about winter, and noticing how icy it seems to be getting. Creating a fresh new winter themed idea began to be a priority. My wolves (there are four different colour ways) will be arriving soon in the form of Christmas cards and pocket mirrors, which I think will make perfect stocking fillers! I will also be posting them up to buy as a print in my Etsy shop HERE as well as on Society 6 and Envelop. You will have lot’s of choice for my new winter collection. Look out for the ‘Arctic Fox’ soon as well!
