I was recently asked by my good friend and Creative Director of new ethical children’s clothing company, Lunamano, to design a little ‘favicon’ for her social media sites and website.

In keeping with her embroidered animals and insects we decided to go with a bumble bee and a couple of other ideas to offer some flexibility.

Please check out lunamo.com for more information.

I was asked to do 15 quick and simple illustrations to accompany a presentation by Sane & Able. Many of these illustrations are available to view in  my portfolio, but I am adding some here for you to see the full collection of what I did. It was a fun project, and the turnaround, being so quick, forced to produce some fun responses.

On Saturday 23rd June, I attended the AOI talks on Illustration and the Children’s Book Industry. Talks were given by Chris Haughton, Claudia Boldt, Fig Taylor, Deirdre McDermott from Walker Books, Alex T.Smith, Philippa Milnes’Smith from LAW Writers and Artists Agents, and lastly Tony Ross.

The talks were inspiring, insightful and encouraging. I went away with pages of notes, and lots to think about. I also went away with a pile of books that I got signed by the author/illustrators, which I wanted to share with you below. You may have already seen an earlier post I did on my Children’s book collection, but if you haven’t I have provided a link for you here: http://alicepotter.co.uk/2012/childrens-books/

I also wanted to point out the wonderful Marloes de Vries who held a recent competition to win her book, That 17th Hat. Well, I was lucky enough to be one of 2 winners! It’s a beautiful book, and thanks to Marloes to sending it to me. The other book is Peepshow Collectives (not a children’s book, I know, but new to my collection). This one was signed by the entire collective too!

I have been working for the past few days on  a personal project illustrating old family photos and portraits. It’s been something I have intended to do for a while, and sifting through all the photos, and being inspired by a Charley Harper illustration, I decided to go for it. Currently, I am about half way through, but wanted to share the work in progress. It was also interesting to see another new idea come out of the work, which you can see in the last picture.

As part of stylist and author, Selina Lakes celebration at the launch of her latest book, Homespun Style, she is hosting a party and market on Friday 13th April.

The market will be made up of a selection of hand picked designer/makers, and I will be selling there myself.

The market will be at Hanbury Hall near Brick Lane, 2-8.

You will be able to buy copies of her latest book, and get them signed by Selina on the day.

I hope to see you there!

Good news! I will be back at the Crafty Fox Spring Market which is taking place on the 24th and 25th March at the Dogstar in Brixton. There is a selection of over 40 designer makers and crafters selling their goods over the two day weekend event.

I will be selling on the Saturday only, and will have some wonderful new products available, including my new large summer shopper.

The Market is open between 11-5 on the two days, at the Dogstar pub, Coldharbour Lane, Brixton.

I hope to see you there.
