It’s not everyday in your career that you get to create something for a wedding, let alone knowing the groom is one Sam Atwell, who used to play the awesome Kane Philips on the great Ozzy soap, Home & Away, and still writes for the show!
(Can you tell I am a huge fan of the show?!)
Well, this happened. I was initially approached by the brides sister (the bride also recently had a small part on the show too), to create a large scale world map, with Australia at the centre, and focusing particularly on London, Ireland, Berlin, Sydney, Brisbane and Terrigal. The names of the couple and the date of the big day also had to be a big focus. We were both quite inspired by old oval maps that contain more detailed information in each corner. You can see an example below.
Apart from these requirements, the entire project was very open and so wonderful. I had it printed up on A1 by Ripe Digital (thank you!) and took it off to Ted Baker HQ to show the client the final result.
By tomorrow, the couple should be in receipt of the gift, and I truly hope it will be something that they will treasure forever.
It was a pleasure creating something for Sam and Ali. I hope they, and the rest of the cast and crew of Home & Away liked the free prints too!
I was lucky enough to design a number of exclusive patterns for Issue 9 of Homemaker Magazine by Aceville Publications. The patterns are available in a pull out booklet along with a number of Habitat designs. Issue 10 will also have some more exclusive designs for you all, so keep an eye out for that at the end of August. For now, Issue 9 is available from all good newsagents and supermarkets from tomorrow.
This week saw the launch of my Ohh Deer video interview on You Tube. To say I was petrified is an understatement, and I am still getting over the idea of strangers seeing my face and hearing my voice. To add to this sense of paranoia I thought I would also share the link here on my blog with you so that you can see for yourselves.
